Praise on the Hill

Tonight we attended our very first community event, Praise on the Hill. It was held at one of our local parks (it has a couple of large hills-hence the name of the event). I'm not entirely sure of the history of the event, but was an awesome time for The Valley to come together and praise our Mighty King.

It was a wonderful time of listening to local church praise bands, playing in bouncy houses and on the playground, and eating yummy food that you'll only allow yourself to eat at fun events like this. However, the most awesome part about the event tonight was that we got to listen to/see Bethany Dillon and Caedmon's Call. Yes, these two large Christian recording artists travelled all the way to South Texas.
See?

We really enjoyed listening to Bethany Dillon. In between songs, she shared a couple of tidbits about herself....she just moved to Dallas from OH and she just got married about 6.5 months ago. She seemed so genuine...and she even spent a few minutes signing autographs and taking pictures.

We also enjoyed praising with Caedmon's Call. Josiah and I walked up to within a couple 100 yards of the stage so that he could watch the band members play their instruments. His most favorite-favorite (Josiah's new term) was the drums and guitar. :-) Unfortunately, Randy had to be at the hospital early tomorrow AM for Rounds, so we left about 4 songs into their "set".
While it was a little loud, the kids really enjoyed it....even Laney. She just loved watching all of the people (I think they reached their goal of 6,000 attendees). It was a very fun evening...for the whole family.

I love me some Caedmon's Call! I must have been to about 5 or 6 of their concerts when I was in college. I just want to encourage you that staying at home is tough. It means that you are the one that your little ones will turn to ALL DAY LONG. It is taxing, but, Jessi, it is SO worth it. They will remember it and you are making a difference. If you haven't listened to it, find "One Little Heartbeat at a Time" by Stephen Curtis Chapman...get a tissue though...you might need it!

Bethany Dillon is one of my favorites. I didn't know she'd gotten married.

Caedmon's call is my very favorite Christian band. I first saw them in concert in 1997, and have listened to them faithfully ever since. I'm so jealous you got to see all of them live.

Remember when we saw Jennifer Knapp and Isabelle wanted to meet her?

What a great concert! How fun to see them outside in such an informal setting. You are blessed!

Hi!
Nice to "meet" you.
I too am jealous that you just saw Caedmon's Call. I too have loved them for years. I just think their talent is so amazing.

My mom is one of the directors of Sonshine Music Festival in MN. They've NEVER had Caedmon's Call. I think I should start begging. How many years in a row do I need to see the Newsboys anyway? Not that they aren't good...

I'll stop rambling on about that now.

Thank you for your words over on the EO. I hope to be an encouragement, I really do. So when someone leaves a comment like yours, I'm blessed to hear that I've made them feel normal in some way. This SAHM business is SO hard. I hear you about the adjustment because I worked at first too. It's insane. I could go on and on, but this is a comment, not a letter. Sorry. I ramble.

Keep in touch,
Heather

It was a great concert. Good pics. You do a good job of capturing what's going on down here. I, on the other hand, am definitely slacking. I just put up my first post in a month. Yikes.
